Trip Description

This trip will take you through the most important, magical and mysterious places in Peru and Bolivia. Take our luxurious tour of Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and Machu Picchu and visit Puno. Witness the beauty of Lake Titicaca, and then be part of a special tour of Uros and Taquile islands. Embark on a catamaran cruise, crossing to Bolivia to visit the Island of the Sun. Once in Bolivia, spend days enjoying the otherworldly natural landscape of the Uyuni salt flats. This is an adventure across two countries rich in history and natural splendor that will leave you in awe for years to come.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Upon your arrival, our representative will be waiting to welcome you and take you to your hotel, where we will provide all the information about your trip.

In the afternoon you will have free time to rest and relax.

  • Day 2: Flight Lima to Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas (B, L)

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport for your flight to Cusco. When you arrive in Cusco, we will be waiting for you at the airport to bring you to the Sacred Valley, which is located at a lower altitude than Cusco, so you will have an easier time acclimating to the altitude. On route to your hotel in the Sacred Valley, we will stop at the Inkarri Museum, to immerse you in the history of the many pre-Incan cultures that influenced the Inca civilization as it expanded to become a great empire. You will then arrive at your hotel to rest in luxury for the night.

  • Day 3: Full-day Tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas (B, L)

In the early morning we will pick you up from your hotel to start the tour of the magical Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting first the archaeological site of Pisac—a place where the history and knowledge of the Incas is in full display, and where you can appreciate the beautiful terraces and the impressive construction of the urban center. We will then visit the local handicraft market town of Pisac, where you will find extraordinary handmade textiles, silverware, pottery, and more. Later we will head to Urubamba, where we will have a delicious lunch right in the heart of the Sacred Valley.

We will continue the tour by visiting the town and archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, where you can appreciate the beautiful and complex architectural design of the place, built as a military and administrative base, while also serving as a final resting place. After visiting these stunning and beautiful sites, we return you to your hotel.

  • Day 4: Tour of Maras – Moray (B, Picnic)

After breakfast we head towards the impressive archeological site of Moray, which was built in a concentric circular design for the purpose of agricultural experimentation. Then we will have a scrumptious picnic lunch around Moray, looking out across the beautiful landscape.

Later we will move on to the picturesque town of Maras, followed by the salt mines, Las Salineras, comprised of some 2,000 pools where salt is collected. We will return to the hotel afterwards.

  • Day 5: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu (B, L, D)

Our transport will take us to the train station in Ollantaytambo, where we board the train to Machu Picchu village. Upon arrival we will take the bus up to the lost city of Machu Picchu, where we will have a guided 2-hour tour of the enigmatic site, visiting the Main Plaza, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Royal Quarters, and the famous Inti Huatana or Solar Clock and the Tower Circle. After exploring Peru´s wonder of the world, you will enjoy a delicious, gourmet buffet lunch at Sanctuary Lodge. Later, you can explore the citadel before returning to Aguas Calientes to enjoy a good night’s rest.

  • Day 6:  Free day in Machu Picchu (B)

Today you can choose between spending your day relaxing and enjoying the citadel of Machu Picchu, or you could visit and hike up Huayna Picchu Mountain, a very popular spot from where you can appreciate the best views of Machu Picchu and its surroundings.

Later we will take the train back to Poroy, which is located 30 minutes from the city of Cusco. From there our transportation will take us to the hotel in Cusco.

  • Day 7: City tour of Cusco (B, L)

After a good breakfast, we will begin the tour of Cusco with its temples and monuments such as the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, and the convent of Santo Domingo, which was built on top of the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha, where you can see the impressive Inca constructions. There is also the archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman, a masterpiece of Inca architecture, and where each year, on June 24, the famous Festival of the Sun or Inti Raymi is celebrated. Continuing the tour, we will visit Quenqo, with its monolithic altar, representing a puma, and then arrive at Puca Pucara, a beautiful spring-fed mountain that forms a series of pools. All of these sites are famous Inca monuments of great religious importance.

  • Day 8: Flight over the Altiplano (B, BL)

After breakfast, in the morning we will go to Cusco’s airport for your flight to Juliaca, where your guide will meet you at the airport to take you to the Sillustani burial towers. Afterwards, we will leave you at your hotel.

  • Day 9: Tour of Uros – Taquile (B, L)

In the early morning you will board a boat for a tour of Lake Titicaca and visit the floating Uros Islands, with their enigmatic customs and reed boats (the reed is a local aquatic plant). We continue the journey to the island Taquile, with its great scenic and environmental value as well as its friendly inhabitants with their authentic traditional costumes, people famous for their craftsmanship and textiles. In the afternoon, we return to Puno, crossing the highest navigable lake in the world, gazing at its breathtaking scenery.

  • Day 10: Tour of the Sun Island in Catamaran – La Paz (B, L)

We will pick you up from your hotel in the city of Puno and drive to you to Lake Titicaca, where we board the catamaran cruise and sail to Bolivia’s Sun Island, known as the cradle of the Inca Empire.

On this legendary island you will visit the garden, steps and Inca fountain, then the Inti Wata Cultural Complex, the main private tourist attraction of Bolivia, which includes the underground museum of the Ekeko, centers of traditional medicine, and construction of reed rafts. The Pachamama agricultural Inca terraces, a handicraft center, the Intica shelter and the largest variety of Andean camelids anywhere are all located on the Manco Capac terraces, which also have a magnificent view. While visiting Inti Wata, you have the option of sailing on board an immense typical raft made of totora or reeds, and of making a panoramic visit to the Inca Palace Pilkokaina.

Later you will board the catamaran again to go to Chua Port, where you can enjoy a buffet lunch on board, before getting on the bus to take you by road to the city of La Paz.

  • Day 11: Flight from La Paz to Uyuni Salt Desert (B, L, D)

Early in the morning we will take you to the airport in La Paz to take the flight to Uyuni, where we expect to see the majestic salt flats of Uyuni. Upon arrival, you will first go to visit the train cemetery near the town of Uyuni. In half an hour we will then reach the village of Colchani, where you can see handicrafts made with salt as well as its domestic process and the Salt Museum.

In the salt desert of Uyuni, you will see the ojos del salar, or eyes of the salt flats, where bubbling gases escape from deep within the salt. Then we visit the Salt Hotel and Incahuasi, where you have the opportunity to walk and observe cacti and volcanic rocks. From the highest point you will have a 360° view of the huge desert of salt. Near Incahuasi is also where we will stop to have lunch.

In the afternoon you will cross the salt desert to the north and finish at the base of the Tunupa Volcano in Tahua. Enjoy a unique experience resting at one of the Salt Hotels.

***During rainy season, you will check out the largest water mirror in the world instead of going to Incahuasi.

  • Day 12: 4X4 through Uyuni (B, BL, D)

This day tour includes a hike to one of the viewpoints on the Tunupa volcano, which gives wonderful views over the salt flats. Afterwards you can visit the archaeological site of Chullpares, pre-Inca mummies, in Coquesa. Just outside the village you might spot lamas and maybe also flamingos.

In the afternoon we cross the great salt desert again. Around five in the afternoon we will return to Uyuni where you can rest.

  • Day 13: Flight Uyuni – La Paz (B, L)

After enjoying Uyuni, we will take the flight back to La Paz, where you can explore the city in the afternoon and rest.

By afternoon we start the city tour of La Paz, so you can appreciate its cultural, historical, architectural and natural wealth. We will visit sights including La Plaza Murillo, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Church of San Francisco, the replica of the semi-subterranean temple of Tiwanaku, and the viewpoint of Quilli Quilli. We will also check out the Oro Museum or Costumbrista Museum and a witches’ market where local people buy products necessary for ritual ceremonies such as ch’alla and offerings to Pachamama or Mother Earth. After our visit to the city center, we will visit the Valley of the Moon, passing through residential neighborhoods south of the city. Later we will return you to your hotel.

Today, at the most convenient time, our transport will take you to the airport for your international flight back home.
